iPhone apps comparison – web and native

with 4 comments

So here is the iPhone web and native apps comparison that I promised in the last post. I hope this slideshow will be a better format to understand the differences between the two app development styles/techniques. Your comments will be most welcome.

  2. Hallo!
I’m sorry, obviously it’s already too late for posting as I overlooked your presentation.
One question concerning one advantage of native apps: in upcoming specifications also web apps should be capable of location based services. Thus I could see that this feature is provided by both alternatives. Do you also see it like that?

    • Hey – web apps will be widely supporting geo location features very soon, but as of today it is a very small minority and have not yet caught up. Whenever it does, it would really be just an extension of what is currently possible.
As far as the iPhone goes, currently there are no known plans of them supporting geo location features in their safari web browser. I believe firefox has some extensions, but that is for the desktop, not for the mobile. Hope this helps.
