A journey called InfoBeans

with one comment

I have uploaded an autobiographical story on our journey – a journey of 3 friends, a journey of a software company, a start up, of ups and downs, how we grew and shrank and then grew again. This presentation is a reminder for me and my friends of how enjoyable and just how meaningful this journey continues to be.

This new year eve, it just feels like revisiting those old memories and going down memory lane to see what we have been doing. Hopefully would enable us to understand what we would like to do in the New Year.

Enjoy the slide show below.

This presentation was created more than 2 years ago for a company event marking our being in business for 5 years and some other milestones, including reaching 100 people. I am reproducing that as is, not updating it for today.

Agile development finally coming to the main stream?

with one comment

Just saw this post on techcrunch.

Software development methodologies are one of those things that are hard to change. They have a huge latency to change and you keep coming back to the same old practices inspite of an initial concious effort to change.

Question really is – is the change necessary? Shouldn’t we live with the software processes that are good for the project at hand? Should we always follow one method for all the projects that we do? Can’t one project have different ways of development depending on who you are interacting with?

What ever the answer to any of the questions above – one thing is certain – the software industry needs to wake up to the fact that the number of bugs that are being churned out today need to reduce drastically in order to create more effocient ways of getting out software. We are in any case moving away from pure coding to business processes.

InfoBeans Annual Outing

with one comment

The InfoBeans team is going out for its annual outing to Silvassa – a resort town on the West coast of India.

Check out a map of the place.

Team – you guys have worked very hard the entire year and it is only appropriate that you take this much needed break. Have a whale of a time there. I will surely miss all the fun – as I have been for the past 4 years. (for those not in the know, the annual InfoBeans outing has become a sort of ritual that started 4 years ago).

Watch this space for all the fun photos. Team – do put in your comments on everything that you do (and don’t do) at Silvassa.

Openings for fresh college graduates

with one comment

Take a look at some of the comments here

There are some comments in there that talk about openings for freshers. One person even tries to present a case where s/he says that if we do not provide openings for freshers, then where will the fresh graduates get their experience from?

Absolutely correct! I agree.

And that is why, we do provide openings for fresh college graduates. We love their enthusiasm and the new and fresh perspective that each individual brings to the table.

InfoBeans engages with fresh college grads through a campus program that is conducted every year in cities like Indore and Pune, amongst others.

The reason why we do not have openings for fresh college graduates all the time is because we hire for the year during the college hiring season. That enables us to create a good pool of grads through a proper match making process for specific requirements. It also means that we spend our hiring time more efficiently.

Trust me, we really want fresh blood into the company stream and we do all we can to ensure that continuous flow.

So if you are interested in us visiting your campus, let our careers department know at careers at infobeans dot com.

We would be happy to visit.

This video is about 3 years old. But still very much pertinent. Specially in this economy.

Many of you might have seen this, but for those who have not, this is a very interesting piece.

Most interesting are the comments on technology and complexity. Are we always jumping the gun?
